LA LEPIDÓPTERA (1968)

 

Carrington reivindica la libertad del movimiento estudiantil en la Ciudad de México, donde se vivió la persecución de la fuerza del estado y la represión armada. Esta obra representa a una Diosa que simboliza la libertad y que alza los brazos denotando las voces de protesta. Por medio de la escritura realiza una declaración de solidaridad con las fuerzas opositoras estudiantiles hacia las represivas autoridades del gobierno, contra quienes se manifestaron el 13 de agosto de 1968, solo para ser masacradas dos meses más tarde. Afectada por ese suceso Carrington abandona México por un tiempo.1

LEPIDOPTERAN (1968)

 

Carrington claims the freedom of the student movement in Mexico City that experienced state persecution and armed repression. This work represents a Goddess symbolizing freedom by raising her arms denoting the voices of protest. Through her writings, she states her solidarity with the student opposition forces towards the repressive government authorities, against whom the students demonstrated on August 13, 1968 only to be massacred two months later. Affected by this event Carrington left Mexico for a while.1
